At Costa Mesa in 2004 the Clan Moffat Society voted to hold its 2006 AGM in Richmond, Virginia.

Colonial Williamsburg is Virginia’s restored 18th Century capital. It presents a variety of restored and reconstructed homes and public buildings, museums, craft shops, taverns, and special entertainment in its 500-building, 173-acre Historic Area.

This genteel colonial tavern catered to Virginia’s gentry and the politically influential before, during, & after the Revolution. It is where the elite met and ate. The atmosphere at the premier tavern is one of simple elegance as befitting statesmen and gentry who often dined here.

Accomodations

The Radisson is nestled in downtown Richmond’s historic district close to the business/financial district, shopping, restaurants, the James River Canal Walk and the recently expanded Richmond Convention Center. Accommodations and meeting rooms have been arranged at the Radisson Hotel, in Historic Richmond, Virginia. The Radisson Hotel offers 230 comfortably appointed guestrooms, many of which are equipped with “sleep number” beds. Some of the finer amenities include two dining outlets (hotel dining and/or room service), wireless high-speed Internet access, dual phone lines, self-parking, same day laundry service and personal business services at your request.

A block of rooms will be held for the Clan Moffat Society Annual Gathering until September 15, 2006. After that date, rooms are available at published rates. Guests should call the Hotel directly to reserve a room. Be sure to mention the block reserved for the Clan Moffat Society and please give your membership number with your name. Please reserve early.

Facilities available: Non-smoking rooms, American breakfast buffet for two with each room.

  • Room types: 2 double beds or 1 king bed.
  • Cost: $105 per night plus taxes (approx 13%). Credit card is required to guarantee rooms for arrival.
  • Parking: The hotel has underground parking at a rate of $7.00 per night. There is also limited street parking on side streets adjacent to the hotel.
  • Transportation from airport: The hotel does not provide transportation, but suggested Groome Transportation (804) 222-7222. The fee is approximately $17 per person.

In the Richmond Region, you can explore more than 400 years of history – the second successful English settlement, the former capital of the Confederacy, the Harlem of the South. Richmond is also rich in historic homes and famous folk. The John Marshall House, Edgar Allan Poe Museum, Maggie Walker National Historic Site, Scotchtown and St. John’s Church, just to name a few.

TRAVEL TIP: Richmond has an international airport and you should consider into flying into Richmond.

REMEMBER, if you fly into either Dulles or Ronald Regan Airports, you may have a three hour drive to Richmond (in traffic).
